UJIO WA THE MBONI SHOW: MAHOJIANO NA HOST WAKE,MBONI MASIMBA

Lakini Mboni Masimba ni nani? Kipindi chake kitahusu nini na kitakuwa na tofauti gani kutoka katika vipindi vingine kadhaa vilivyoko katika stesheni mbalimbali za luninga? Ili kupata majibu kwa maswali hayo na mengine,nilimtafuta Mboni Mashimba. Haya hapa ni mazungumzo yetu;

BC: Mboni, Karibu sana ndani ya BC. Mambo vipi?

MM: Mambo poa tu Jeff za kwako?

BC: Za kwangu nzuri Mboni.

May 2012
(Excluding South Africa)

Just six weeks after the exciting revision of its channel line-up, pioneering continental TV brand AfricaMagic has more fantastic news for viewers.

As of Monday May 28, DStv audiences tuned in to the glamorous new AfricaMagic Entertainment (channel 128) will also be able to watch two more massively popular daily series as the sensational soap operas GENERATIONS and ISIDINGO debut on the channel.

The latest development is particularly significant because it means that for viewers outside of SA, where both series are produced, the best place to watch the freshest episodes will be AfricaMagic Entertainment!

“We are very pleased that we have been able to conclude our agreement with the SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation) for the rights to screen these two dramatic and dynamic shows that already have a proven record of attracting audiences and maintaining high levels of viewer interest. And the fact that we will be screening the latest episodes shortly after the SABC is a great benefit to our audiences,” says M-Net Africa Managing Director Biola Alabi.

Alabi goes on to express her gratitude to audiences for their understanding and support during the recent changes to the AfricaMagic channels.

“There were several changes which our audiences were very patient with and we received alot of positive feedback about the revised and new channels. We also want to thank our content suppliers for their great support and helpful suggestions; and of course, we must thank the cast and crews of all our shows who have been so enthusiastic about making AfricaMagic

Entertainment a success. Overall, we’re happy with the response received to date. It’s a good sign for the future of a brand we’re deeply committed to.”
Along with the established M-Net series Tinsel, Jacob’s Cross and Changes, GENERATIONS and

ISIDINGO will offer high quality African drama, beautifully filmed with storylines that are both relevant to African audiences and, in many ways, reflective of their own hopes, ambitions and desires. With stellar casts and world-class productions, both shows are already famous for delivering must-watch, jam-packed plots with intrigue, secrets, romance and more!

But what are the shows about? Read on for a quick summary on each series:

GENERATIONS: The backdrop of Generations is the advertising industry, with a storyline that celebrates the dreams and aspirations of Africans. As in all soaps, rivalry, treachery and blackmail between siblings, friends and foes alike make Generations one of the most forceful dramas South Africa has ever produced. Suspense, intrigue and tension are the order of the day as the plot unfolds and romance influences relationships between warring parties.

Generations will be screening on AfricaMagic Entertainment from Monday to Friday at 21:30 CAT, with episodes re-screened the following weekday at 13:00 CAT. Fans can also look out for an omnibus of the week’s episodes on Saturday afternoon.

ISIDINGO: Isidingo is a daily serial set in the mining village of Horizon Deep. The structure of the mining community from the miners to executive management reflects South African society as it is in the new millennium. The characters and storylines deal with the issues which face ordinary people in their daily lives – their loves, fears, problems, heartaches and triumphs.

Isidingo will be screened on AfricaMagic Entertainment from Monday to Friday at 22:00 CAT, with episodes re-screened the following weekday at 16:00 CAT. Plus fans can look out for an omnibus of the week’s episodes on Sunday afternoon.

Plus TINSEL fans will be thrilled to hear that the show is resuming its daily slot at 20:30 CAT from Monday May 28. So make sure you tune in! For more information on AfricaMagic

MEDIA BRIEFING NOTE FOR THE GLOBAL 2013 SMART PARTNERSHIP DIALOGUE TO BE HELD IN DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA – 24TH TO 28TH MAY, 2013

Tanzania will host the next Smart Partnership Dialogue that is scheduled to take place from 24th to 28th May, 2013 in Dar es Salaam. President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, is  expected  to officiate the  National launch at noon  today Tuesday May 29, 2012 at the Karimjee Hall grounds in Dar es salaam.
President Kikwete had agreed to host the event  during the last dialogue that took place in Putrajaya, Malaysia in June, 2011  -  branded the Langkawi International Dialogue.
The Smart Partnership Dialogues are a brainchild of the Commonwealth Partnership for Technology Management. The CPTM which is the social and scientific interlinkage arm of the Commonwealth, has since 1995 undertaken in collaboration with willing national partners to provide a forum that cuts across the east-west, have, have not’s and the developed and developing dichotomy for the discussion of topical subjects in a conducive inclusive, open dialogue. Inspired by the increasing need to ensure a win-win interrelationship between actors, the CPTM, in collaboration with the host country undertake to provide an ambient setting where individuals from all walks of life and professions can meet and hold serious discourse on selected subjects every two years.
To ensure that these dialogues are successful, a two pronged approach is utilized. The first is when the host country convenes a National Dialogue. This involves the gathering together of different sectors of the host community and coming up with a topical issue that is not just locally relevant, but which resonates internationally and merits a grander discourse and focus. The second is when the Host country in collaboration with the CPTM plan for, invite participants and hold an international open dialogue on the selected topic, in essence, host aSMART DIALOGUE.
As hosts, the kicking off of the National Dialogue is very crucial. It is a means for creating National and International awareness of the next host of the Dialogue and avails the opportunity to announce the dialogue venue, topic and dates.
The Launch of the National Campaign for the Dialogue in Tanzania will take place on the 29th May, 2012 at the Karimjee Hall Grounds from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The Host and Patron Advisor for the 2013 |Smart Partnership Dialogue, H.E. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania will officially launch preparations for the 2013 Dialogue and introduce the Theme for the Dialogue (Leveraging Technology for Africa’s Socio-Economic Transformation) announce the date for the Dialogue (24th to 28th May, 2013) and the venue (Dar es Salaam) issue a holistic invitation to both the citizens of Tanzania as well as the International Community at large, and share his vision for the Dialogue. The Dialogue has been branded the GLOBAL 2013 SMART PARTNERSHIP DIALOGUE in anticipation of interest the chosen theme is likely to raise. Technology is a global phenomenon, a global concern, a global topical issue. It is therefore more than likely that a Dialogue on Technology for development shall merit global attention and have a global audience/participation.
The Execution of the preparation will be undertaken under the guidance of the Chief Secretary who is the Convener of the Dialogue. The Chief Secretary will be supported by a National Steering Committee that comprises of Permanent Secretaries from All Ministries as well as Representatives of Keyline Sectors both on Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
A Focal Point Team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will spearhead the logistical and liaising activities necessary for the successful execution of the Dialogue. The Team will over time incorporate Members from different Links
A Resource Group with an Advisory role comprising of key members of the Academia, Business and Corporate Community, Youth, Labour, Culture, Industry and Media has been set up under the leadership of Professor Samuel Wangwe.
Following the National Launch, the next step is scheduled to be contact with different Links within Tanzania who will in turn be linked with counterparts interested in participating in the Dialogue in 2013. A National Dialogue to discuss the theme will follow thereafter.
Other African countries that have hosted the Smart Partnership Dialogues include Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho and Uganda that has hosted it twice. Other countries include Barbados, and Malaysis that has hosted the dialogue nine times.

Mampi Waves Goodbye to Upville

Mampi and IK

Ghana’s Mildred & Keitta and Botswana’s Edith & Eve randomly nominated this week
Mampi became the first Upville housemate to be evicted from Big Brother StarGame on Sunday night (27 May, live on DStv Channel 197 & 198 at 21:00 EAT). The Zambian was sent home after receiving the fewest country votes from Africa this week. She was also the most-nominated Upville housemate, with 6 nominations from her peers.

Having had a week off from the pressures of a looming eviction, normal service resumed in Downville as the random nomination process returned – leaving Ghana’s Mildred and Keitta and Botswana’s Edith and Eve up for eviction this week.

Tanzanian artist Diamond Platinumz set the tone for a cracking show by opening proceedings with Mawazo. DJ Umculo from Namibia’s Fresh FM was hard at work on the decks as well, keeping the studio audience jumping throughout the show.

After giving viewers a reminder of the week that was in Upville – with DKB throwing his weight around as Head of House, a surprise visit from DJ Euphonik and a wager victory – and Downville, where romance blossomed, Keagan shouted his way through the week as Head of House and then won this week’s Head of House challenge too - IK gave viewers a chance to hear from last week’s evicted housemates Luke, Dalphin and Yadel.

Luke said that his time in the house had been “crazy” and quite unlike anything he’d ever experienced before. He said he would miss Jessica as their relationship had bloomed and he’d felt like he’d known her for years. Dalphin said her time on Big Brother StarGame had helped her learn how to live with other people with different characters, and backed her friend Zainab to do well in Upville. Yadel said she had loved everything about the StarGame experience – especially Big Brother’s commanding voice. She insisted that her relationship with Alex was purely platonic and that she still had a boyfriend at home.

After a chance to hear what viewers from around the continent had to say about the show, it was time to get down to eviction business. The Sizwe Ntsaluba Gobodo auditor delivered the results envelope to IK on stage and confirmed that its contents had been verified. IK then took viewers into the house and asked DKB to reveal his ‘save and replace’ decision to the rest of the Upville housemates. After going to great lengths to explain that his decision was nothing personal, DKB broke the news that he had replaced himself with Lady May, prompting the Namibian to leap from the couch and shout “I knew it!”. As she considered her fate, IK asked her, Mampi and Maneta to stand. He put Lady May out of her misery first, telling her she was safe this week. “One of the other two housemates will be leaving this week,” said IK. “Sorry to say, Maneta, you’re not going anywhere – Mampi, you’ve been evicted, please leave the Big Brother house”.

When she emerged on stage, IK quizzed her about her beef with DKB and the most difficult part of life in the house. She revealed that she thought DKB had been interested in her and that she had really missed her family during her time in Upville – and that she was ready to leave. She told IK she would be voting for her “spidermate” Maneta but thought that Zainab would emerge from the show with the USD 300 000 prize.

After a brief rendition of her now-famous ‘thunder thighs’ dance, Mampi departed the Big Brother stage and it was time for a random nomination of the Downville housemates. Buhle and the auditor from Sizwe Ntsaluba Gobodo joined IK on stage and kick-started the random process. The first ball out of the cube bore the country name “Ghana”, meaning that Mildred and Keitta were the first randomly-nominated pair. After letting the housemates stew through a dynamic dance performance on stage, IK broke the news that there would be a second random nomination. Buhle spun the cube and Botswana’s ball dropped into the container – meaning that Edith and Eve join their Ghanaian counterparts on the chopping block this week.
There was just enough time for Diamond Platinumz to close out the show with a pumping rendition of Moyo Wangu, before the credits rolled on another action-packed Big Brother StarGame eviction show and the voting lines opened.

Mampi’s eviction means that 18 housemates remain in the Downville house, while there are now 8 housemates in Upville – and they have 63 days to go in the game, in the battle for the USD 300 00 prize.

There are three ways to vote to keep your favourite housemate in Big Brother StarGame - via web, SMS or WAP – and you can win amazing prizes in the process! The voting winners this week were as follows: Ingrid Ngunovandu (Namibia) won a DStv HD PVR, Amutenya Shikingo (Namibia) picked up a DStv Walka and Olunide Akeju (Nigeria) won a Big Boy Scooter.

To vote via web or WAP, go to www.africamagic.tv/bigbrother, log in, click ‘Vote’ and then click the appropriate button for the housemate you’d like to keep in the house. You may vote once per hour.
